Resident emergency quick print

Choose a resident and print their emergency transfer pack so you can hand it over to hospital staff.

Written by Emma Ianson

Use the Resident Emergency Quick Print app to choose a resident, review their emergency hospital transfer pack, and print it for handover to hospital staff. Follow these steps to get started.

Open the app

When the app loads, you'll land on the Select a Resident screen. This is the starting point for every session. Nothing is shown until you choose a resident.

Use the dropdown to choose a resident by name and room number.

🤓Tip: First time here? Click Take a tour in the top-right corner for a short guided walkthrough of the whole process.

Review the resident's emergency pack

Once you select a resident, the app displays their full emergency hospital transfer pack. The pack is built from several sections. Some are always visible, and some are collapsible so you can focus on what you need.

At the top, you'll always see two buttons:

  • Change Resident: returns you to the selection screen.

  • Generate Pack: opens the section selector and prints the pack. This is covered in the Generate and print the pack section below.

Critical Information & Demographics

This section is always shown in full and is never collapsed. It holds the most safety-critical information: name, photo, National Health Service (NHS) number, Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) and Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) status, dementia flag, date of birth, gender, room, and admission date.

Emergency Transfer Information

This section is open by default. It contains three parts:

  • Vital signs: temperature, blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, weight, and blood glucose, each with a last recorded timestamp.

  • Items sent with resident: a checklist covering medications, glasses, hearing aids, dentures, mobile phone, clothing and toiletries, and an other option with a free-text field.

  • Progress notes: the most recent notes. If there are more than two, click Show more.

Primary and Secondary Contacts

This section is collapsed by default. Click the section header to expand it. It shows next of kin and emergency contacts, with their relationship and phone number.

Clinical Information

This section is collapsed by default. It shows the resident's General Practitioner (GP) details, nominated hospital, diagnoses, and allergies.

Current Medications

This section is collapsed by default. It lists each medication with its dose, frequency, route, and reason. Controlled drugs are flagged in purple, and high-risk medications are flagged in amber.

MAR Report

This section is collapsed by default and labelled Last 7 days. It shows a Medication Administration Record (MAR) snapshot so hospital staff can see recent adherence at a glance.

Preferences

This section is collapsed by default. It shows dietary requirements, religious needs, and language preference.

Legal

This section is collapsed by default. It shows Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) status and any Lasting Power of Attorney details for health and welfare, or property and finance.

Generate and print the pack

When you're ready to hand the pack to hospital staff:

  1. Click Generate Pack.

  2. A Select Sections to Include dialog opens, listing every section with a checkbox.

    • Critical Information & Demographics is required and can't be deselected.

    • Use Select All or Deselect All to quickly adjust your choice, or select sections individually.

  3. Click Print to confirm your selection. The dialog closes, and your browser's print dialog opens automatically with only the chosen sections included.

  4. Print to paper, or select Save as PDF in the print dialog to create a digital copy for the ambulance crew or hospital team.
